Monuments In Mathura

Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi or the Birthplace Temple Mathura

The Krishna Janmabhoomi Temple complex is the main pilgrimage spot in Mathura. Krishna was born in a prison cell where his parents Devki and Vasudev were imprisoned by the brother of Devki, Kansa due the prediction that their son would kill Kansa. Immediately on his birth Krishna was shifted from Mathura prison to a small village Gokul across the river Yamuna to the house of Nand and Yashoda. This Temple is built around the prison cell in which Lord Krishna was born.

Dwarkadhish Temple Mathura

It is Mathura's most beautiful temple known throughout the country for its ornate construction and murals. Lord Dwarkadheesh, another name of Lord Krishna, sits like a black marble idol in the shrine.

Shri Banke Bihari Temple, Vrindavan

The Bankey Bihari temple, in Vrindavan is amongst the holiest and famous temples of Krishna in the World. This temple is the most visited temple in Vrindavan.

Built in 1975, Sri Krishna-Balram Mandir is one of the many temples in the world made by Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, the founder-acharya of the International Society of Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON).

Shri Pagal Baba Temple, Vrindavan

Vishram ghat Mathura

Govind Dev Temple Vrindavan

Constructed by Raja Man Singh in 1590, this Temple in Vrindavan is a part of the Temple at Jaipur. It is said that Akbar, the Mughal King, donated the red sandstone for this temple.

Nidhivan, Vrindavan
