Moti Dungri is a small hill, at the top of which a small palace is built, and all around it are fortresses. There is an ancient
pagoda located here which is opened only once a year for worship to the common
people on the day of Shivratri.
Moti Doongri in Jaipur is a
small palace which is an imitation of a Scottish castle. This fort was once
occupied by Maharaja Madho Singh’s son. It is also known as a private residence
of Maharani Gayatri Devi. It was used as the venue for innumerable parties
attended by the top socialites of those times.
The entry is prohibited in
the area where Maharani Gayatri Devi used to reside.
In its foothills, the all-important Ganesh Temple of Jaipur and the amazing Lakshmi Narayan Temple are located which are major tourist spots of Jaipur.
1. Bhagwan Shri Ganesh Mandir, Moti Dungari
Shri Ganesh temple is situated at the bottom of the Moti Dungri
hill. The idol of Shri Ganesh in the temple is said to be more
than five-hundred years old, and was brought here in 1761 by Seth Jai Ram
Pallival who was accompanying Maharaja Madho Singh I,
from Udaipur. It was brought to Udaipur from Gujarat. The temple
was built under Pallival's supervision.
The trunk of the sindoor-coloured Ganesh is
rightwards. Devotees offer laddoo sweets to the deity.
Moti
Dungari temple of Shri Bhagwan Ganesh is famous for its divine power. It is
flocked by visitors and tourists all through the year. The temple is the centre
of attraction on festivals like Ganesh Chaturthi, Krisna Janmashtami, Annakut
and Paush Bada. Scholars and architects come here to have flavour of rich
cultural heritage of Jaipur city. Thousands of devotees participate in the
preparation of festivities and pay their regards to Shri Ganesh.
The
beautiful idol of Shri Ganesh is the prime centre of attraction for the
visitors. A fair is organized in the temple campus every Wednesday.
