Chintamani is Lord Shiva Temple Complex in Anegundi.
It is located on the north bank of Thungabhadra – just across the river from
Hampi.
This Temple complex is
also known as the place where Sri Ram and Lakshman had stayed, planned for search
Sita and waited for the rainy season to end.
On the advice of Ram, Sugriva had challenged Vali for the fight.
Sri Rama paada (foot print) is said to be the place from where Rama shot the
arrow that killed Vali.
Chintamani Temple complex is situated
on the bank of Tungabhadara River from where one can walk down to reach the
river. There are stones lined up on the bank of the river. One can sit and
enjoy the river views. Many people take bath in the river. There is
Narsimha-Lakshmi Temple near the river bank where one can sit in calmness and
pray.
Sri Krishna Devaraya’s Samadhi also is seen from the
river-shore.
